Xenomorph Species Tag OK, listen up marines. I'm here to brief you on the LV426B-1A species of xenomorph. The more you know about your target, the longer you will survive in the field, so pay attention.

The first stage of the xenomorph's lifecycle is the egg. They are leathery objects approximately 2.5 feet tall. You will encounter these eggs in great numbers once inside the Hive. They are easily destroyed with a shotgun, or a quick four-round burst from the smart gun. Contained inside of these eggs is a parasite commonly refered to as a face-hugger. This is the second Stage of the cycle.

Life Sign Readinglife tag The face-hugger is so named because it has the ability to attach itself by wrapping it's long "tail" around a victims neck and using it's eight legs to firmly grip the victims head. The legs become almost fused with the head of the soon-to-be host. The face-hugger controls the amount of oxygen it's host receives and puts the victim into a comatose-like state while it reaches down the host's throat and lays it's pupae. The huggers are small, but still pose a threat so don't underestimate them. The life sign monitor was taken from a specimen as doctors attempted to remove it from the victims head. The patient died in the process of removal.

The third stage comes once the egg has developed into an embryo. It will grow until it has sufficient strength to literally burst from the body cavity of the host. This is called a chest burster for obvious reasons. You will not likely encounter the xenomorph at this stage. They rapidly grow, shedding thier skin to speed the process until they reach their adult state as a drone. This process could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

Alien EKG ScanEKG The fourth stage is the adult drone. The drone ranges from 7-8 feet tall, and is primarily humanoid in form (depending on the species of the host.) There appear to be no eyes or other distinguishable optical sensors, and the drones may use echo location or possibly sense heat signatures to determine their surroundings. We have an alien EKG readout, which may hold the key to determining how they target prey. It is being studied carefully now by top company scientists.

Another attribute of the drone is a shell like exo-skeleton. While not impervious, it does provide great protection and effectively masks the drone from Infra-Red scanners. Motion trackers will be your primary means of locating them. The xenomorph is also equipped with razor like claws, and a tail both used for balance and attack. The tail itself has a long row of connected spines on top, and ends in what appears to be a stinger. Whether or not this "stinger" has a purpose is unknown at this time. Drones are your primary threat. They are strong, and extremely agile. Relying on speed, surprise, and stealth, they prefer to attack from behind, or drop from openings in the ventilation system.

This brings us to the Queen, which we know little about. What we do know is she has a larger cranium, and is slightly larger in size (approx. 2-3 feet.) She noticably has more arms/legs. 2 legs, 2 large arms, 2 small arms, and 2 very short arms sticking straight out of her chest for a total of 8. She is very intelligent, and controls the Hive. She is most often found within the Hive, unless there is a threat to it's survival. She is by far the most dangerous, and her destruction should be one of your primary goals on any mission.
